Winter Pairs

Competition Rules

The qualifying criteria for this competition are as follows:

Competitors must be aged 55 or over on the third week in September.

All competitors must have Ramsdale Park G.C. as their home club, have an active handicap.

To win this competition all competitors must have entered 3 qualifying competitions.  (See rules for Board Competitions).

Pairings for the competition will be drawn following the monthly Stableford competition in September.

Competitors must be able and be prepared to play all rounds during mid-week. Any weekend rounds played must be specifically agreeable to all the competitors involved.

Prizes are awarded for the winning pair and the runners up.

Match play competition rules apply. The handicap allowance to be 90% the difference from the lowest handicap in the group playing.

All matches shall be played off yellow/ winter tees, as are applicable at the time.

All competitors must pay a one off competition fee.  Payments to be made to the organisers.

All players must enter the result of the on to the computer.

Due to potentially inclement weather an adequate time allowance has been made for the first two rounds to be completed during October, November and December. Every effort must be made to ensure that each round is played by the dates specified below and on the knockout competition sheet posted on the senior’s notice board.

In the event that during the match, one player has to withdraw for whatever reason.  The remaining partner has the option of; a) playing the remainder of the match as a singleton, b) withdrawing and forfeiting the match.

Use of substitutes: In the event that a competitor is, for any reason unable to play , the Seniors Committee will where possible arrange another eligible player (who has not played in a previous round).  A draw will take place if more than one reserve is available.  A substitute cannot be used from and including the quarterfinal round of this competition.  If a singleton wins the competition, his original partner shares the honours and prize money.

It is the responsibility of the first pair in each round to actively seek and agree a match date and tee time for that round to be played. Failure of any pair to turn up on the agreed date and time shall result in disqualification.

It is the responsibility of the winning pair of each round to enter the result on to the computer.

The rounds shall be played within the timetable to be published by the Competition Secretary.

Only under exceptional circumstances (inclement weather, recovering from illness/injury etc.) will any rounds be extended beyond the above timetable.

All queries or difficulties complying with the above rules, must be formally presented to the nominated competition coordinator or any member of the Seniors Committee without undue delay for resolution.  The Senior Committee ruling shall be final.

All Rules of Golf to apply. It is not acceptable to waive a Rule of Golf e.g. recording gross scores, handicap recorded, markers signature, players signature etc.
