Minutes of Monthly Seniors Meeting

1. Minutes of the last meeting
The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as a true record, subject to the following amendment:
1.1 Phil Rankin was also at this, and the January, meetings.
2. Matters arising from the minutes
2.1 Item 4.2: Brian presented a revised 2017 schedule for the Monday Club. The schedule was accepted by the meeting.
2.2 Item 8.1: Brian had discussed with the Centre Manager the seniors’ sponsorship of a floral display. Siting has yet to be decided, and there will be a sponsorship plaque.
3. Finance
Mike presented the February financial position, highlighting the following:
3.1 Due to adverse weather conditions, income is down for the period.
3.2 The Christmas Monday Club showed a loss of £77 when, in previous years, there had been a small profit. This loss was due to unforeseen circumstances.
4. Monday Club
A report on the Monday Club was given by Brian and Keith:
4.1 Keith was concerned that, on a number of occasions, entrants had arrived after 8.30am. This results in the Monday Club organizers having very little time to prepare themselves before their tee times. With the exception of entrants who telephone ahead, it was agreed that no entries will be accepted after 8.30am.
4.2 It was agreed that, at the discretion of the Monday Club organizers, when weather conditions are poor the Monday Club can be reduced to a 9 hole event.
4.3 Keith informed the meeting that, during his Captain’s year, he will need to withdraw from the Monday Club and a replacement will be needed. David C agreed that, if no-one is available (joins committee) he will stand in.
5. Competitions
David C gave an update on the progress of existing competitions and future competitions:
5.1 The winter pairs schedule is now up-to-date.
5.2 It was agreed that, for future knockout competitions, Handicap Master will be used.
5.3 The singles knockout draw will take place on Thursday 23 March. Agreed that all who attend the draw or compete in the Winter Memorial Cup will be eligible for the free meal.
5.4 Order of Merit will be announced after the AGM.
6. Prizes/trophies
Paul reported:
6.1 All up-to-date. Waiting now for the completion of the Winter Memorial Cup.
7. Any other business
7.1 With the resignation of Phil Rankin from the committee, the meeting thanked him for all his work and contribution to the Seniors’ Committee and the Seniors’ Section. Phil has agreed to carry on as organizer of the monthly Stableford.
