Minutes of Monthly Seniors Meeting
05/06/2017
Minutes
1. Minutes of the last meeting
The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as a true record , subject to the following: It was Brian Bailey and David Dandie who reported on the Monday Club.
2. Matters arising from the minutes
2.1 Item 6.1: Paul had been provided with monies by the Treasurer for the outstanding prize vouchers and these had now all been issued.
3. Finance
Mike presented the current financial position, highlighting the following:
3.1 The adjusted bank balance was up since the start of the financial year. However, expenditure is heaviest towards the end of the year when competitions are completed. In addition, the seniors’ section has committed to providing a contribution to the proposed CAD project and the usual annual contribution to the Main Club.
3.2 Income has been up in some instances e.g. singles knockout in which the entry has been strong, and down in others e.g. Monday Club (due to bad weather cancellation of some competitions). There has been a loss in covering the costs of friendly matches (meals plus visitor green fees) and this was discussed further in ‘any other business’.
3.3 Overall the section’s finances are in a healthy condition and income and expenditure are performing within budget.
4. Monday Club
A report on the Monday Club was given by Brian and David D:
4.1 Attendances for Medal competitions have been much better since reverting to the Monday Club.
4.2 Paul proposed that the face of the entries/results board be replaced as its condition is deteriorating. It was agreed that Paul look at possible solutions and costs. Keith confirmed that the Main Club is intending to push ahead with the provision of a computerized results display, but a date for this is not yet known.
5. Competitions
David C gave an update on the progress of current and future competitions:
5.1 The preliminary and first rounds of the singles knockout had been completed.
5.2 There had been good attendances for the Summer Cup and the Eclectic Competition was progressing satisfactorily.
5.3 An entry form had been posted for the Seniors’ Championship (Gross and Net) to take place on 29 June and 06 July. The entry fee will be £6, payable prior to the first round’s tee off. Either David D or Phil Rankin will collect fees.
6. Prizes and trophies
Paul confirmed that all prize vouchers had been issued.
7. Any other business
7.1 Further to item 3.2 of Mike’s Financial Report, it was agreed that a reminder would be posted that it is mandatory for all who play in inter-club matches pay the fee for the post-match meal even if unable to stay for the meal. This decision was made by the Seniors’ Committee some time ago because we incur the cost of the meal and an element of the charge helps to cover the cost of visitor green fees when we play home matches.
7.2 David C raised the issue of whether exceptional score cards should be vetted by the Seniors’ Committee prior to submission to the Main Club. After discussion, it was agreed that this is not necessarily required, providing they have been properly considered by, for example, the Seniors’ Captain or Competition Secretary and an appropriate Main Club Committee member.
8. Date of next meeting
Monday 03 July 2017
