Minutes of Monthly Seniors Meeting

1. Minutes of the meeting on 10 September 2018.

The minutes were accepted as a true record.

2. Matters arising from the minutes.

Item 5 – Alan Ryland won the 2018 singles knockout competition.

Item 9 – a Seniors versus Par 3 Club Ryder Cup type event took place on the 4th of October and went well. Mike and Steve to process payment for the post-event meal.

Item 11.3 – Patrick had produced a list of alterations and additions to match and competition dates for 2019. Steve to finalize list and provide it to Ramsdale Park administrators for entry onto 2019 events schedule.

Other matters arising are covered later in agenda items.

3. Finance report.

Mike reiterated that the 2018 prize vouchers should be purchased before the 31st of October financial year end and receipts etc provided to him for the records.

4. Monday Club report.

4.1 Dave and Brian reported that attendances have continued to be good.

4.2 The entry form for the Christmas Monday Club had been posted and there were only 2 places left. Dave and Brian proposed that the raffle be different this year in that 10 prizes will be purchased by the seniors’ section rather than participants being asked to bring raffle prizes. Raffle tickets will be sold for £5 each on the day and raffle prizes publicised before the event. This was agreed by the committee.

4.3 It was also agreed that the criterion for a person to win the trophy at the Christmas Monday Club will be changed from participation in 6 Monday Club events in the year to 6 competitions/matches organized by the seniors’ section.

5. 2019 Monday Club programme.

5.1 Brian provided a programme of competitions for next year. He had moved qualifiers away from the first Monday in the month to avoid Bank Holidays. It was agreed that the Christmas Monday Club be moved to the 16th of December (from the 2nd) and a team competition played on the 2nd.

5.2 It was also agreed that Steve will liaise with Richard Hone when the 2019 seniors match and competition programme is finalised to avoid unnecessary clashes with Par 3 Club events.

6. Competitions.

David Costin reported that all summer competitions had been completed and that the winter pairs knockout was underway. There has been a very good number of entries for the 2018/19 winter aggregate stableford competition which commences on 25/10/18.

7. Minutes of extraordinary AGM – 27/9/18.

David Costin had sent minutes of the above meeting to committee members and it was agreed that they were a true record.

8. Seniors Memorial Cup.

David Costin provided members with a few ideas about what should be engraved on the the trophy and how past members should be remembered. It was agreed that it should be engraved with a brief eulogy in memory of all, but not with names. At the Christmas Monday Club meal, the names of past members would be presented and the Seniors’ Captain would say a few words about the trophy’s meaning and significance.

9. R&A rule changes in 2019.

David Costin had posted a notice asking seniors to indicate interest in attending a seminar on the rule changes. Such a seminar will be organized if a sufficient number of people support the idea.

10. Prizes and trophies.

No report in Dave Clark’s absence.
