Minutes of Monthly Seniors Meeting
16th September 2019
Present: Patrick McDonough, Steve Duty, Stuart Murry, David Dandie, Keith Hepworth, Dave Clark, David Costin, Malcolm Voce, Brian Bailey
Apologies: Mike Jefferies
Minutes of previous meeting:
- Minutes accepted as a true record
Matters arising from minutes:
- Christine West has been suggested as the Treasurer, which has been accepted. Need to arrange a meeting with Mike Jefferies to hand over the records.
- We can accept anyone to a position within the Seniors’ committee, doesn’t have to be a man only.
- We need a club member as Treasurer, as the main club is ultimately responsible for our monies.
- Club abuse – his attitude is improving, he is controlling himself better and Amos has been spoken to on this matter.
- Standardised meals for forthcoming meals for matches against other clubs – burger and chips (but no egg) and salad plus a bacon cob and coffee in the morning.
Finance Report:
- There was nothing to report at this time.
- We need to ask Mike to hand over a resume of accounts rather than always having ‘nothing to report’.
Monday Club report:
- Members are booking on-line and also in person and we are getting duplicate bookings, as happened on the 16th Committee has now pre-booked times from 0700 to 0936. This is from the beginning of October.
- Members pre-book their preferred times with the organisers the week in advance.
- Committee needs to talk about the Christmas Monday Club – meal, prizes, raffle tickets.
Competitions:
- Mick Duffy has won the Single’s Competition this year.
- Phil Rankin has agreed to run the Winter Aggregate this year again.
- A free meal to be offered when the Winter’s Pairs competition is drawn.
- A suggestion to move the playing season from April to September to May to October.
- At the moment the Winter Aggregate is the best of 3 out of 5. The new suggestion is to have it the best of 4 from 6. The free meal will now be in April rather than March.
Prizes:
- Names are being entered in the schedule.
- Presentation evening is on the 26th
- Monday Club Christmas dinner is in the 16th
AOB:
- Coxmoor GC is a strong possibility for next year. Burleigh GC – awaiting dates to be confirmed.
- Sleeper planks across the ditch on the 6th hole was mentioned. It has been proposed to the main club.
- Welton GC – do we want to continue playing with them? The usual reasons have been given. Might need to check after next year.
- Slow play – Stapleford matches should take a max of 4½ hours. Medal matches should take a max of 4¾ hours. A way of monitoring this is checking the start time and the check-in time on the computer when entering the scores. We need to gather information before warning and penalising players.
- Teresa mentioned we have new (senior?) members join Ramsdale for a year and then leave after a year. Reason – the Seniors are not forthcoming and welcoming. We need to get the new members to join the Thursday Fuddle, maybe the pick-up Friday Club. We also need to know that there are new members to welcome.
Date of next meeting
- 14th October 2019
