1. Minutes of the last meeting
The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as a true record.
2. Matters arising from the minutes
There were no matters arising.
3. Finance
Mike gave a brief update:
3.1 The seniors’ section’s accounts are due to be signed off by 31 October and so he asked that purchase of prize vouchers etc be completed as soon as possible.
3.2 Mike stated that he will give a full report on the finances at the December committee meeting.
4. Monday Club
David D said that numbers entering the Monday Club competitions were good, including those off white tees.
5. Monday Club Xmas event and meal
5.1 David C to confirm that tee-off times booked for competition on 04 December (shot gun start) with Pro Shop.
5.2 Keith to confirm catering arrangements (room booking; menu) with catering management.
5.3 A competition entry notice will be posted by David C for participants to complete, and no entrants will be accepted on the day who have not already entered their names on the notice.
5.4 People who enter will be required to pay for both the competition and meal even if they do not stay for the meal.
5.5 A seating plan will be produced for the meal.
5.6 Brian Bailey will provide and write scorecards for the competition.
5.7 Brian and David D will organize the prizes for the competition.
6. Competitions
David C gave an update on the progress of current and future competitions:
6.1 The singles knockout, Summer Cup, summer eclectic and order of merit have all been completed. David is to post a list of all this year’s competition winners and runners up on the seniors’ website.
6.2 The draw for the winter pairs’ knockout has been made.
7. Memorial Cup competitions
David C proposed that one Memorial Cup be played for each year, with the former club members remembered through the trophy presentation to be agreed by current members of the seniors’ section. They would include those remembered through existing memorial trophies. It could be presented after the Xmas Monday Club competition, which is usually very well attended, thus making it a more appropriate occasion to acknowledge contributions made by former members. The Winter Memorial Cup would then become the Winter Aggregate Stableford Cup. It was agreed by committee members that the proposal would be presented to the seniors’ AGM with a view to commencement of the new Memorial Cup in 2018, if supported.
8. Prizes and trophies
8.1 Paul informed the committee that trophies would be engraved in time for the Captain’s Social and Presentation evening on 21 October.
8.2 David C agreed to purchase the requested Victoria Centre vouchers prior to the presentation and to provide details of the costs to Mike as soon as possible.
8.3 David C also said that he will post a notice asking for names of members and guests wishing to attend on 21 October, and that it will incorporate a means of selecting choices from the evening’s meal menu. The cost will be £10 per person (collected on the night) which is an amount subsidized from the seniors’ funds. Vouchers will not be accepted as a means of payment.
9. Any other business
9.1 David C requested payment for printing materials, which was agreed.
9.2 Keith proposed that the match at Norwood, planned for December, be cancelled due to likely weather/course conditions. This was accepted.
9.3 Mike suggested that the veterans versus seniors match be revised as there was a significant imbalance of numbers of veterans and seniors this year. It was agreed that the format be reviewed for next year with senior section’s members’ views to be sought.
