1. Minutes of the last meeting
The minutes were accepted as a true record.
2. Matters arising from the minutes
2.1 Item 4.3: Brian produced a paper detailing two alternative ways of increasing prize money for team competitions. It was agreed that the prize money will be increased, with a smaller proportion of Monday Club receipts being retained for the seniors’ funds.
2.2 Item 7.1: No firm arrangements yet for the Captain’s Away Day.
2.3 Item 7.2: Patrick McDonough has agreed to become Vice Captain for 2017/18.
3. Finance
Mike summarized the March financial position as follows:
3.1 There is a steady flow of income with all financial commitments being met.
4. Monday Club
A report on the Monday Club was given by Keith, Brian and David D:
4.1 David D is taking over the Monday Club duties of Keith, and Keith will clarify the role to him over the next few weeks.
4.2 There was a good turn-out for the first Medal competition from the white tees with 46 entries.
5. Competitions
David C gave an update on the progress of existing competitions and on future competitions:
5.1 The Winter Pairs competition has been completed. Congratulations to winners Neil Harris and Winston Jones, and commiserations to runners up Brian Bailey and John Hilton.
5.2 The summer singles knockout has commenced. Mike commented that the process for entering results onto the computer is straightforward. Entry fees were being collected by David C.
5.3 The Summer Cup (aggregate Stableford) and associated eclectic competition had commenced. It was confirmed that, as in previous years, no fee is payable for entry into the Summer Cup. There is a fee of £3 for entry into the eclectic, being collected by Phil Rankin/Paul.
5.4 The Summer Aggregate Medal had begun on 10 April with the entry fee (£3) to be collected by Brian/David D. A competition entry form to be posted on the notice board.
5.5 Friendly match sponsorship fees will be collected by Keith/Mike.
5.6 A one-off fee will continue to be payable to enter the Winter Memorial Cup (aggregate Stableford) . This is to cover the cost of extra prizes when we split the event into separate winter/summer competitions (doubling the prize money).
5.7 No-one will be excluded from playing in individual events if they choose not to enter in either the Winter or Summer Aggregate competitions.
6. Prizes/trophies
Paul reported:
6.1 Paul is to check voucher preferences with winners of the most recently completed trophies.
7. Any other business
7.1 Keith had asked the General Manager to thank the green keepers for their presentation of the course for the first home friendly match of the summer. Our visitors were very complimentary about the golf course and the post-match meal.
7.2 Brian proposed that the maximum handicap allowance for a team in 4 player Monday Club Texas Scrambles be 6.0, in line with the Main Club. This was agreed.
