Minutes

1. Minutes of the meeting on 16 July 2018.

The minutes were accepted as a true record.

2. Matters arising from the minutes.

Item 6 – Dave Clark confirmed that Richard Hone had provided him with a spreadsheet to help him to administer prize vouchers etc.

3. Finance report.

Mike had nothing to report at this point of the financial year.

4. Monday Club report.

Dave Dandie and Brian reported that attendances for Monday Club competitions continue to be very good.

5. Competitions.

Summer competitions had been on track – until today! The Medal competition, part of the Summer Aggregate, could not be a qualifier as heavy rain had resulted in all bunkers being out of play. Consequently it will need to be rescheduled.

6. Holes in one.

It was agreed that, when a Ramsdale Park senior scores a hole in one during a friendly match with another club, the seniors’ section will buy a bottle of whisky to mark the occasion.

7. Christmas Monday Club.

This was an item raised by David Costin and was not discussed in his absence, apart from agreeing that any proposed changes to memorial trophy competitions would need to be put to the seniors’ AGM.

A brief discussion was held about the Turkey Trot competition in which entry was through each player bringing a prize for inclusion in the post-competition presentation. However, a significant number of entrants do not wait for the presentation resulting in several prizes being unclaimed. It was agreed that the format would be reviewed before the next Turkey Trot.

8. Allocation of prize money.

David Costin had provided a breakdown of the monies allocated for prizes in seniors competitions. The document was not discussed in his absence.

9. Prizes and trophies.

Dave Clark reported that he had acquired labels for all the seniors’ trophies in the display cabinet and will put them in place in due course.

Mike and Dave will obtain prize vouchers from the Victoria Centre when Dave has established which competition winners prefer them. This will be done before the Captain’s presentation evening, which Patrick confirmed will be on Saturday the 17th of November.

10. Any other business.

Dave Clark raised the possibility of the seniors’ section organizing a second competition with the ladies section, to go along with the very successful away day run by Stuart Murry. His concern was that the ladies feel a bit isolated in the club. He suggested that they may enjoy a Texas Scramble/ Stableford format of play which fully involves them in a competition. It was agreed that this would be discussed at a future meeting and that it could take place at the end of the season, probably away from Ramsdale.

11. Date of next meeting.

Monday the 10th of September.
