1. Matters arising
None
2. Finance
In the absence of Mike Jefferies, no finance report.
3. Monday Club
Attendances continue to show significant increases, it was noted that the monthly medal from the white tees attracted 60+ players.
4. Competitions:
David Costin informed the meeting that one match was significantly behind schedule. After some discussion it was agreed that should the match not be completed by Monday 23 July, both entrants will be disqualified.
5. Qualifiers from the yellow tees
The Main Club have requested that non seniors who enter qualifiers from the yellow tees be excluded from signing in, although still eligible to compete in the competition. After some discussion it was agreed that this arrangement would be an unwelcome administrative burden on the Monday Club organisers. The exclusion of yellow tee qualifiers from our schedule will continue until the end of the season. Further discussion to take place regarding the future.
6. Prizes and trophies
Dave Clark has had discussions with Richard Hone who will produce a spreadsheet in order to help Dave administer prize vouchers and trophies.
David Costin reminded the meeting that the Seniors web site (under the ‘Honours Board’ tab) does show progress for board competitions to-date.
7. Any other business
7.1 Memorial event
David Dandie has been approached by a family member of the late Jim Ramsey asking if the Committee would consider organising a memorial event in Jim’s honour.
The meeting agreed that it is not practical to organise another memorial event in an otherwise busy calendar.
David Costin reminded the Committee that at his years’ annual general meeting (AGM) a proposal was presented to honour all deceased past members of the Seniors Section by rolling all existing memorial trophies into one memorial event. It was suggested that an ideal time for this event to take place would be the Christmas Monday Club. This would have solved the problem of how to honour past members like Jim Ramsey, and many more well deserving past members who unfortunately with the passage of time, tend to be forgotten.
The attendees at the AGM did not find favour with this proposal and was not voted on.
It was agreed that the Committee will relook at the issue of memorial events at a future meeting.
Date and time of the next meeting
Monday 13 August
